What's for supper?

One of the subjects which arouses a lot of interest in missionary presentations is that of food.  In this summer season, we will try to satisfy your thirst for knowledge.  The Democratic Republic of Congo is a very fertile country where fruit grows within arm's reach.  The following three photos were taken around the bible college in Lubumbashi.  There are bananas, papayas, and mangoes.

Nevertheless fruit is not the staple in Katanga.  Instead it is foufou which finds itself on Congolese tables.  Besides, it doesn't matter what you serve, if there's no foufou, it's as if you haven't eaten.  It is made from corn flour or manioc (cassava), and is often a mix of the two.  It's served with rice, tomato sauce, potatoes and various vegetables.  Chicken and fish are the main meats.

Foufou.                            A Congolese meal.                     Grilled fish.

And when homesickness strikes, we go to KFC.  No, not Kentucky Fried Chicken, but Katanga Fried Chicken!
