Mighty Warriors Needed

Over three years ago a Congolese man named Jacob, a father of eight, came to see me for information about theological training. He had the conviction that he needed to improve himself in order to better serve the Lord, but he didn't have the financial means to pay for his studies. I suggested that we pray together to know the Lord's will. Actually I was a little sceptical about the possibility of paying the fees with such a large family to support.

But a little while later, he enrolled in the courses, and last year he graduated in theology. Since then he has been assisting his pastor and is evangelizing in the hospitals. And whenever I preach in his church, he translates for those who speak only Swahili.

It's only recently that he gave me the details about his enrolment and training at ISTHEK. The day that I had prayed with him, he went to church for a prayer meeting and brought his need for training before the Lord. While he was praying someone came to him and told him that the pastor wanted to see him. He went to the office, and the pastor told him that he saw potential in him to serve in the church, and asked him if he would like to take theological training. Jacob, a little surprised, said yes. But his surprise was even greater when the pastor told him that the church would pay his fees for his three years of training. Hallelujah! God answers the prayers of His children.

This story encourages me to share with you a pressing need for our ministry in Congo. Since God led us to construct the Bible College building, our budget has been in the red each time the mortgage payment is withdrawn. All my life I have avoided debt like the plague, and this situation bothers me a great deal. The monthly payment is $1250, and we still have 30 months left to pay.

In 1 Chronicles 11 we have the list of the mighty men that helped King David in his mission. The most famous are mentioned, but also thirty from among them. Just like David, I also need thirty mighty warriors who can help me to slay this enemy.
