From July 2nd to the 16th
we have had the opportunity to welcome our first
Canadian mission team. Pastor Paul Duplessis
from the church in Shédiac, New-Brunswick, three
members of his church, Robert, Guylaine and
Mireille, as well as the assistant Pastor of the
church in Beresford, New-Brunswick, Rev. Diane
Dupont. The first week, we traveled 150 km of
Lubumbashi to Kakanda and Kambove where special
gatherings had been organised. Each morning,
there were teachings from Robert and Mireille
for the youth while Pastor Diane and Guylaine
lead meetings for the women. We were warmly
welcomed by the pastors and their churches.
Pastor Paul, Pastor Jean Ilunga (the provincial
superintendent) and myself shared the preaching
of the Word for the evening sessions.

The atmosphere was truly joyful. We sang,
prayed, praised and even… danced. I want to
mention from the top that I have never been a
dancer. But how can we not move in an African
gathering filled with joy and the glorious
presence of our Lord Jesus-Christ? The team also
shared special songs to the crowd’s delight.
“How pleasant and wonderful it is when brothers
live together in harmony!” Ps.133. We were in
Lubumbashi for the second week for a conference
where Pastor Paul was the main speaker. All
appreciated his profound teachings. On Saturday,
July 14th was held a special ceremony
where 10 graduates in theology (of which one
woman) received their diplomas. Marielle
directed our graduates’ choir for the occasion.

The team was a source of
encouragement and blessing for the pastors and
their assemblies wherever it went. We believe
the Canadian churches were well represented and
hope to soon have the pleasure to welcome
another team from Canada
J
